Local Organizations Receive Funding From the Pennsylvania Energy Development Authority(HARRISBURG) Several local businesses and organizations will benefit from recently announced grants from the Pennsylvania Energy Development Authority, (PEDA) according to Sen. Gene Yaw, R-Loyalsock. The David R. Webb Company, a Lycoming County company, was awarded $866,500. This funding will be used to install a single steam turbine generator set in order to significantly reduce its carbon footprint and to generate onsite power. Biomass Fuel Stocks of PA in Union County will receive $150,000 to be used to establish a central Pennsylvania facility which will density readily available, cellulose-based fuel stock by converting untreated, unpainted waste wood, energy crops such as switch grass, agricultural waste such as corn cobs, plus other biomass into convenient to use briquettes. The East Lycoming School District has been awarded a grant for $800,000. This funding will be used to convert the Hughesville Junior/Senior High School and the Lycoming County Career and Technology Center primary heating source from oil and natural gas to biomass.
